We are always looking for easier and quicker ways to learn English. If not easier ways, at least some sort of tips or tricks that can help us learn English more comprehensively. While learning a new language can be difficult, there are always certain methods that you can employ to better understand the mechanics of the said language.

Firstly, one has to approach the process of learning English in a positive manner. Don’t be disheartened if you have been practicing for quite a while and have not reached your set goals. Like learning anything new, you will have to give the language some time.

To help you learn better, we have compiled a list of what to include and what to avoid while learning English. Let’s take a look:

DON’T’s

Sit idle when learning English

While this may sound counterproductive, but walking around or shifting places while learning anything can help you retain the information better. When your brain is introduced to various aspects and ideas, it tends to grasp the information at hand way better than when it is focused on a single thing. The more you exercise your brain, the better it will be at grasping and storing information.

Study English grammar books, textbooks, or vocabulary books

These books only end up confusing you and discouraging you from wanting to learn English. Instead, read newspapers, articles, blogs, fictional and non-fictional books. These resources will help you better understand the functionalities of the English language.

Memorize grammar rules

There is no point in memorizing rules. Your goal should be to understand them. Not to mention, there are a lot of English grammar rules, so if you go on remembering them, you might end up forgetting the language itself.

Only use your ears

Learning anything is achieved when you make use of all of your senses. Use your eyes, ears, and mouth to make it easier for yourself to learn English through english speaking course, if you want to imrove english. Watch English movies and TV shows, listen to how the characters are speaking, and try repeating the words and sentences in your own way. It will not only help you speak better but also teach you to be more observant and attentive.

DO’s

Study phrases

When you learn a new language, memorizing new words does not make any sense as you often don’t have the proper context to use them. Instead of learning new words, try learning phrases. You will get to remember the words much better if you know what they mean and how you can use them in a sentence.

Read everything you can find

One of the best ways to get better at English is to surround yourself with the language. Try to read every piece of information, data, news, article, blog, and other forms of writing in English that you can find. New content will expand your vocabulary as well as improve your knowledge of how words and sentences go together.

Talk in English

Do not be ashamed of speaking English or talking to others in English regardless of how inarticulate your sound. Find someone who can communicate with you in English and make it a habit to talk to them every day. When you talk to real people in English, you gradually remove the fear of public speaking and holding conversations in English from your heart.

Write

Another great way to improve your grasp of English is to indulge in writing. Try formulating your thoughts into words and write them in your diary or your phone’s notes. What you write does not have to be an impeccable piece of writing. You can write anything as long as you are able to put your thoughts in words. Try writing movie reviews or podcast summaries. You can always check out other pieces of writing for reference.

Be consistent

The fact is that if you stick to something, you are more likely to get better at it than the things that you are not consistent with. Whether you are able to dedicate 30 minutes of your time to learning English or 2 hours, make sure to stay consistent. Practice every day and stay positive.
